We stayed 2 nights. There was no servicing our room or bathroom in between nights. No fresh towels and our trash didn't get emptied.
I was very disappointed!
I was alarmed when she offered to go wake up a mans wife when she hadn't arrived at breakfast yet! She only had 6 guests/3rooms for this weekend...
I have been to other historical B n Bs. You can have an old home decorated in antiques and be very nice. This home might be shabby chic...but it's a stretch. The bones of the home need work. Sanding and refinishing floors. Furniture that's not missing knobs...a mirror in our room that's not sitting on the floor and maybe a few hooks to hang things?
The owner Cherly or Sheryl is a so unprofessional i cannot believe it. We had to cancel 3 days before trip and before we could even call her she wrote an email threatening to black ball us from Gruene Texas...so we never got to stay because of a family member getring diagnosed with Cancer...glad we didnt...Cheryl was pure evil and before even talking to us...she threatens us with legal issues and calling all Inns and BNB in area to make sure we didnt get to go...super cra cra
The breakfast was good but not outstanding and was very disappointed to have it on paper plates and disposable coffee cups!
Old fashioned bed and breakfast with an antique decor right in the heart of gruene. If you don't mind all the commotion from the festivities in gruene, this is a fantastic place to stay.
It does have a great location, but for the price it should be much nicer!
But perhaps the most alarming part was the host...she loved to talk. About herself mostly and her hard times. She even sat at the breakfast table and took over conversation!
So quaint. Cheryl was awesome! Breakfast was delicious! She told me the history of the area and this home. So interesting. I felt like I truly stepped back in time! Thank you Cheryl for a wonderful visit!
The cottage was lovely. The rooms were great... The gardens were astronomical.... The owner put a damper on the stay. We booked Hanna's room, which is a 2 room suite. The total number of guest's with my party was 3. On the way down, we were contacted by the owner, and asked if we cared if we changed rooms, the room that we stayed in was Ernest's room. The difference in the price quoted to us from Hanna's room, to the posted price on the web, for Ernest's room, was 50.00. Also on our phone call confirming that we were OK, with the room change, she asked what time we would be there... We told her between 7 and 8 pm... She informed us, there would be a 25.00 per hour charge after 7 pm to wait for us. ( the sign in the front yard, says 9am to 9pm ), Well one of the guests arrived in time, and put the whole bill on her credit card. The tax rate is 16% so if you book, make sure you are aware of that. The next morning, waiting on coffee and breakfast, I attempted to talk to the owner about the rate change, and she informed me, the charge was per bed. (really) 2 beds in each of rooms, but one is just one room, and one was a two room suite.. hmmm.... Breakfast... gosh hope your not hungry, our choice was a Kolache, watermelon, and pound cake. The next morning, I again talked to the owner about the rate's between the 2 room, and she said do you want a refund?, I said I want what is right. She refunded my friend 25.00 plus tax... well the difference between what we where quoted for the larger room and the other room was 50.00 a night... In my book, we should have been refunded 100.00 plus the 16% tax... She needs to have a manger, or sell the place to someone that is truly a people person, and good with customer service.... Would not recommend or stay at this place again.
