Short notice 50th wedding anniversary cake in Italian cream and they nailed it in under a week. Their technique with icing made it look like their original wedding cake which used fondant. Superb customer service and an excellent cake. Everyone absolutely loved it. It really helped make the day memorable. Grabbed a few pastries on the way out and they were sublime. Would recommend them to anyone. Thanks for all your help!
It's not a deal breaker because the baked goods are so good, but don't ask questions about what they make.
I wish, I wish, I wish, I lived closer to this gem of a bakery. The "oldest bakery in Texas" keeps you wanting more...hence, probably why they've been around so frign long. My first visit I tried something that looked like a twisted pretzel... And it tasted like I needed them in my life. Also, if you try the fudge brownies, be ready to have your tastebuds blown away. So dense but just the right amount of sweetness. *drools* This is a great spot to stop if you have a sweet tooth. Now...I need to drive 2 1/2 hours to get some.
And I specifically quote from the first employee : "I think, maybe. Wait is that gluten free, I think it was gluten - no it is sugar free, or is it that other thing we make -- oh what's it called?" . So what's it made with? "... cherry pie filling and SUGAR."
But the staff is considerably less than knowledgeable about their products. We asked if they offered anything sugar free so one of our family members could enjoy something from here and was told that the cherry turnover was sugar free which didn't seem right since I've had that one and it definitely doesn't taste like a sugar free product.
So the treats are spectacular as always.
We have visited Naegelins Bakery several times already and each time was just as good as the first. We love the tasty selection of pastries and drinks. I love ordering the Hot Chocolate so that I can sip it with my Bear Claws, which I have to say are the absolute best. Our little one likes the Sprinkled Donuts and my wife loves the selection of Streudel, which are always tasty. I have tried different cookies and they are all very delicious! We love everything about this old Bakery and the history it has. The prices are good, the employee's are courteous and our overall experience was excellent. It is most definitely worth every visit!
Best bakery in town got my wedding cake from here last year it was so good although they did forget to put the chocolate mouse filling in the cake but overall everything there is fairly priced and delicious
The other employee confirmed it is not sugar free and they don't offer anything sugar free, then those two had a discussion on the difference between sugar free and gluten free and whatever other 'free' thing they think they offered but weren't sure what it was while we waiting for them to package and ring up the other treats we ordered.
