My 8 year old son and I booked a 3 night tent camping stay a couple of weeks ago. We only stayed one night. First of all, there was zero enforcement of the quiet hours rule after midnight. At 12:30 am out of pure frustration I marched over to a group of kids who were screaming and drinking and told them it was well past the quiet hour so they apologized and got quiet. The problem was that there was a condo on a different property right next to the campground and those people were partying just as loud as the kids but I knew I had no ground to stand on because they were on a different property. I tried to phone in a noise complaint but couldn't get anywhere with that. So, I got online and booked a room at Maricopa for the remainder of our stay and salvaged our trip. I do not recommend this camp ground to anyone not planning on partying or with kids. The bathrooms were old and nasty and I wouldn't take a shower in them.
I have stayed at many places along the river. This is by far the very worst. First off we were going to have my wife and and step mother come by to have dinner with us as they did not want to camp. The lady at the front says we need to pay $15 each for them to camp if they would be any later than 7pm. Granted you can't even check in until after 2pm. We didn't check in until 5:30pm. Anyhow we negotiated and paid $10 so they could come eat with us and leave.
Great place to get your tubes. Friendly staff and decent prices.
Gilligan's is that a good location and the family that runs it is very nice. That's said, the bathrooms our kind of so-so, and the power is iffy depending on your spot.
I would recommend staying far away from this place.
Secondly, this supposedly a family friendly campsite. However, when you have people blaring explicit lyrics all afternoon and evening and you let the staff know, they say "Well they will have to turn it off by midnight". There was at least a dozen kids 10yo and younger having to liste to very very explicit lyrics from a stereo system that turned up extremely loud. I even asked the group myself to turn it down and that didn't turn out so friendly.
The owners, Dave and Terry, are amazing people. They have a wonderful campground with fair prices. The river was amazing. Highly recommend Gilligan's Island.
Last but not least, apparently there were 2 party groups of about 20+ ppl literally partying all night long. Being very loud and obnoxious. They didn't start partying until around 10:30pm. The sheriffs came out twice to have them quite up. That would last about 20min and then right back at it. The music, screaming, running around the camp sites, throwing bottles etc. continued on until 5:30am. No exaggeration at all. Don't get me wrong, I love to party and have a good time. But this was ridiculous. We went ahead and packed all of our stuff up Saturday morning and left, even tho we paid for both nights.
